Here's is my review of the movie 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind'
This isn't your average Hollywood style type of movie nor is it something you'd watch for the special effects. This is an indie style romantic, comedy and drama is truly gifted and sacred.
This movie is one of my favourites out there mainly because it's unlike anything I've seen before.
It's original, quirky, natural and beautiful.
Previously I used to think films like 'Transformers' were so cool until I saw this and discovered a new taste in movies.
The movie tells the story about a couple Joel (Jim Carey) and Clementine (Kate Winslet) going through the ups and down of a relationship. After a nasty argument Clementine leaves Joel and to not deal with the hardship of a breakup she goes through a certain medical procedure. After discovering what she did Joel decides to do the same procedure however realises how important she is to him.
I'm very vague in the description for a reason, it's because of the story and how it's able to shoot off into something extremely compelling.
It's something you'd have to see for yourself and be blown away.
First up Jim Carey is incredible. Who knew that this guy could act so well in a drama. Knowing his background and how he became famous stuns me to see him take on a role so seriously. He does the character so well, innocent, soft and friendly.
Kate Winslet is able to pull off the impulsive character Clementine very well too. Her energetic and open personality makes you want to have a friend just like her.
Their relationship is the driving force in the movie and their motives. It wants you to have more and delve in deeper to find out what else they've been through as a couple. It's so natural, nothing here is fake like you see in too many romantic comedies these days.
Side characters play an important role too. None are wasted potential Mark Ruffalo, Kirsten Dunst and Elijah Wood play strong characters and all play their part very well.
There isn't much else I can say without spoiling or giving away any hints or details about it. I'd rather have you the viewer see it with zero knowledge about it and be surprised.
'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' is a must see on anyone's movie list. Trust me when I say this. Ever since watching a couple years ago I've mentioned it to family and friends whenever a movie topic comes up and it's always the first one and most recommended movie I choose.
It's movies like these that proves that a strong story, likeable characters and brilliant execution to the plot can make a great movie.
My rating for 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' is a 9.5/10.
